Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly is Physical Therapy or "PT"?
Physical Therapy or PT is a way to get people out of pain, or help them recover from an injury or surgery, by using hands-on techniques, pain free stretching and strengthening programs. Physical therapists are also trained in numerous pain relieving treatments such as therapeutic massage, therapeutic exercise, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and traction. For more information on physical therapy, visit the American Physical Therapy Association  website.

What are the benefits of physical therapy?
Depending on what you are seeking a physical therapist for the benefits can include decreased pain, increased muscle strength, increased range of motion, increased coordination, decreased stress, decreased inflammation, decreased swelling, increased independence, increased function, improved flexibility, increased endurance, and increased knowledge.

What types of problems do you commonly see?
Our most common complaints are back pain, neck pain, headaches, shoulder and knee pain. We are also trained in foot and ankle injuries, jaw problems, orthopedic injuries, car accident injuries, sports injuries and work injuries. Click HERE to see the types of conditions we treat.

Do I need to see my doctor before starting physical therapy at Fruition Therapy?
Most insurances do not require a Rx from a doctor. So you can come directly to Fruition Therapy or you can be referred by your primary care physician, dentist, orthopedic, oral surgeon or chiropractor. At this time, Medicare patients do still require a Rx from their doctor to have their care covered by Medicare.

What if I have a chronic condition?
Even if your condition is chronic, such as arthritis, a physical therapist can still work with you to design a program to decrease your symptoms and improve your quality of life.

What if I have had pain a long time?
We have had many patients experience a significant reduction in their pain and sometimes even complete elimination of their pain after completing an individualized program with us. Click HERE for testimonials from past patients.

Physical therapy is often used before surgery to prepare the patient for surgery which eases recovery after surgery. We also see patients after surgery to address pain, increase pain free motion and strength as well as improve function.

How long does someone go to physical therapy?
The length of time someone would need to receive physical therapy varies based on their condition. Your physical therapist will let you know how long you will need to come to physical therapy to meet your goals, but most of our patients have met their goals with 2-6 weeks of treatment.

Is physical therapy expensive?
We feel that there can be no price on your health and wellbeing. In addition, most insurances cover physical therapy, and we would be happy to check your insurance benefits for you.  If you would like  us to check your physical therapy benefits on your behalf,  please call 262-723-2711.

What if I have already had physical therapy?
If you have had a relapse of your symptoms, or if physical therapy was unsuccessful for you in the past, we would be happy to provide a free consultation to determine if we can help you.

What kind of training or education does a physical therapist have?
Physical therapists have at least a Bachelor's Degree in physical therapy and some have Masters or Doctorate Degrees and are licensed by the state in which they practice. Physical Therapists also attend continuing education after completing their initial training.
